Bye, bye Cambridge...

Our vacation in UK is drawing to a close. Luckily next we'll be in Gdańsk for two weeks :)
Now I want to show you what I've seen during last month.
Punts on Cam river, huge parks and characteristic english houses... That's Cambridge.

And something less serious :)

Dogs all over the place

Today it will be about pyjamas. At first I've thought: piece of cake, but after a while I've realised that it won't be that easy because I've never sewn placket band opening. Little bit of googling and I found nice tutorial on Husqvarna site. Opening came out pretty nicely (at least for a first-timer):

It's nice to win

Such a nice surprise happened to me – I've won a contest arranged on utkani.pl site!!! I look forward to sew something from fabric I'll receive :)

Tunic with hearts

Lately I've been watching season 7 of television series “Project runway” which features great Seth Aarons projects. Because of that I've fallen in love with combination of geometrical black&white pattern with vivid colours. It's time to sew something using above as inspiration :)

I've chosen combination of houndstooth with red and yellow- perfect for a girl.

Trousers for Bartek

Few days ago I've get my first order for kids cloth :) It was interesting challenge because I haven't been sewing for a boy jet. In addition only boy's fabric I have is grey, boring fleece. That's what I've created from it:

I'm trying to sew stretch fabric

For some time I was tempted to try how my sewing machine handles stretching fabrics. I've figure out to use a t-shirt and redesign it to top for Nika.

After reading manual for my Elna it turned out that my machine have three stretching stitches. Unfortunately two of them wrinkled my fabric but luckily the third one proved to be perfect.

Top looks surprisingly good and for sure I'll be sewing from stretching fabrics more often.
